40 years ago this week, '5 million cubic meters of earth' slid down-hill, from the Dunedin suburb of Abbotsford.

The majority of the earth slipped from under residents' feet, just after 9pm, on the 8th of August, 1979

It's an event 'a then 14-year-old' will never forget.
