An Invercargill policeman accused of murdering his wife Verity and attempting to murder the man she was living with, Garry Duggan, appeared in the Invercargill High Court via video link today.

Benjamin Peter McLean did not enter a plea.

His lawyer Bill Dawkins said as the investigation was ongoing, a plea would be premature.

McLean has been remanded in custody until July 18 when it is expected he will enter pleas.
