One of George Street's more unusual processions of recent times caught lunchtime crowds by surprise today.
You might almost describe it as a stampede with five magnificent, handmade, furry animal heads, carried through Dunedin's main street on the shoulders of volunteers.
The group galloped through a thunderstorm towards the Octagon, leaving bystanders bewildered in their wake.
The animal busts were created by Otago Polytechnic third year School of Art student Stephanie Cossens as a final year project.
