A woman has been taken to Dunedin Hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries after a car struck a power pole last night.

Police, Saint John and fire crews were called to attend the accident in Concord around five thirty PM.

Police say the accident took place at a blind corner on Blackhead Road, near the intersection with Emerson Street.

The accident resulted in the right rear side of the car being extensively damaged.

Lookout Point Volunteer Fire Brigade senior station officer Martin Jansen says the driver was a woman, in her twenties or thirties.
