A crash victim is recovering after being trapped in a vehicle in the Invercargill CBD.

The crash occurred near the corner of Nith and Eye streets just before 3pm.

One person was trapped and had to be cut from a car.

A person was taken from the scene in a stretcher, although no-one else appeared to be seriously injured.

The two-car crash is believed to have been caused by the driver of a blue vehicle pulling out of a car park into oncoming traffic.

Two fire appliances, three police cars and an ambulance were at the scene.

The area was cordoned off for around 20 minutes while police and firemen pushed the two vehicles off the road, away from the busy intersection.
