The spring show season got under way on Saturday with the 147th Ellesmere A&P Show held at the rural Canterbury town of Leeston.

The Ellesmere show is the first of the new season and the first opportunity for local breeders to get together and compete against each other ahead of the main event at the Canterbury A&P Show at Christchurch next month.
