Last May, Queenstown firefighter Gavin Mason was able to run up the Auckland Skytower.

However, days later he suffered a rare disease and he couldn’t even lift up one leg.

Today, the Queenstown Airport Rescue firefighter is fully recovered and has his eyes set on competing again at the Sky Tower Stairs Challenge in Auckland in two week's time.
