Young conservationists from Wakanui School in Mid Canterbury have been making and firing seeds balls into areas of gorse at a nearby beach reserve in order to encourage positive growth.

Around 40 children came armed to Wakanui Beach with 385 seed balls made by rolling soil, clay, seed, fertiliser, egg shells and coffee grounds together.
