An Oamaru goat has been tasered.

Senior Constable Carl Pedersen used the device in an unusual way yesterday, after being led on a wild goat chase through the town.

The goat was believed, at one stage, to be a danger to traffic on State Highway 1 and it also damaged a woman's mobility scooter.

Senior Constable Pedersen confronted the goat and tasered it. The goat was later put down.
