The Queenstown-based Kea Conservation Trust is conducting field research of Kea’s for the first time in the lower part of the South Island.

The project is due to take place at the Mount Aspiring National Park, and the Matukituki Valley early next year.

The trust says it hopes to get a better understanding of what is threatening the Kea population.
