North Harbour professional Michael Hendry became the first Kiwi to claim the New Zealand Open Golf title since 2003, after a three-way playoff at the Millbrook Resort near Queenstown yesterday.

Birdies by fellow Kiwi Ben Campbell, and 2011 champion Brad Kennedy from Australia, on the 17th hole enabled the pair to finish the tournament tied with Hendry at 19-under par.
