Barnes Dance pedestrian crossings will be introduced to eight key Dunedin intersections to make them safer for pedestrians and simpler for motorists.

A Barnes Dance crossing means all vehicles stop, allowing pedestrians to cross in every direction, including diagonally, at the same time.

The new crossing systems will cost about $1 million to implement.

The South Today found out your views about their reintroduction to our streets.
