While Dunedin is gearing up for the billion dollar re-build of the city's hospital, refurbishments are still happening in the current building.

A new state-of-the-art gastroenterology unit was officially opened today.

And with the Southern district having one the highest rates of bowel cancer in the country, it's a welcome addition.
