The most open and competitive New Zealand Rally Championship in recent history is set to begin in Otago this weekend, with any one of about 10 drivers staking a claim to become national champion.

The nation's number one rally driver Hayden Paddon will be looking to extend his impressive record by collecting his 7th Otago title, while local woman Emma Gilmour is always a chance on her home roads.
