The Otago University Students Association has disaffiliated itself from a controversial religious group, labelled a cult by some.

The South Today reported in May the group Elohim Bible Academy, a front for the Korean World Mission Society Church of God, was holding regular meetings at the association's offices.

Some students claimed to find the group intimidating and felt coerced into entering its group activities.
Student paper Critic reported this week University Proctor Dave Scott considered trespassing the group from campus earlier in the year.

The students' association did not respond to South Today inquiries, but told Critic the group has brought the association into disrepute, ignored directives and breached the association’s constitution.
