Opponents of the controversial Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal are keeping it in the public eye.

About 100 people protested the 12-nation agreement in central Dunedin on Saturday.

A smaller group also marched in Oamaru.

The Dunedin protesters made their way up George Street to the Octagon where they gathered for speeches.

Rally organisers are urging residents to lobby politicians about the TPP, with it likely to be an election issue next year.

A petition asking the Dunedin City Council to make its territory TPP-free is also garnering support with almost 1000 signatures.
