Police have arrested six men in relation to two serious assaults in Dunedin late last month involving members and associates of the Dunedin chapter of the Black Power gang.

The first incident was a fight between two groups of men in the early hours of Sunday June 25.

And the second was around 9.30am three days later on Stafford Street, where up to six members of the gang attacked two men on the street.

Five members and one associate of Black Power have been arrested and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and assault with a weapon, believed to be a patu or mere.

Five of the men have been remanded in custody to re-appear in the Dunedin District Court at later dates.
