Thousands have turned out for the annual Christmas parade held in the South Canterbury town of Geraldine over the weekend.

The parade is regarded as one of the best in the region, with dozens of floats and after-parade attractions for children and adults.

The parade wound its way along the rural town's main street and helpers added to the fun, by distributing lollies to eager children.

At the end of the parade, organisations were on hand to offer plenty of food options to the public.
