Thousands of toys will be disappearing from Dunedin shelves after Christmas as Dunedin's Toyworld is set to close in January 2018.

Owner Linda Verity previously managed two other Toyworlds, in Queenstown and Timaru, with the Timaru branch closing in 2010 and Queenstown closing in 2011.
At the time, Verity said her small stores got squashed by big business.
