The Rotary Club of Dunedin ran their seventh annual duck race along the Water of Leith today.
Despite being timed to be near low tide, the plastic ducks ended up battling a slack current and occasional head wind on their way to the finish line.
Eventually assistance was called in from Surf Life Saving volunteers to help the competitors make their way down stream.
Charities benefiting from the event were St John, Otago Community Hospice, Scouts and Surf Life Saving New Zealand.
