Striking workers at the Port of Auckland have gained a temporary reprieve from redundancy.
An Employment Court judge late yesterday put a hold on dismissal notices until Monday, when a judicial settlement conference will be held.
A full employment court hearing will be held on March 26th.
As part of the deal, port management will hold off its wide-scale redundancy plan and won’t employ outside contractors, and the union will pay for the cancellation of job ads planned for this weekend.
