The 'Ashburton Car Club' held its a Motorkhana recently, on the grounds of Silver Ferns Farms, in Fairton.

Part of 'Wheels Week Plus,' the annual event was held for the first-time at the new venue, with many drivers 'holding nothing back.'

Organisers of the three day event at Kirwee were determined it would be the biggest and best yet, and it appears they may have pulled it off.

Set in the large Tinwald Domain, the lodge is set to be officially unveiled at a public opening.

The Mayfield A&P Show 'community day out' celebrated its 94th annual event on Saturday and continued their point of difference from other shows with pig racing, and a tug of war.

This year marks the 100th anniversary since the Mayfield Agricultural and Pastoral Association was formed...and one of the highlights for many was the tractor pull, which featured some huge machines.

A hundred years of sheep dog trials are being celebrated this week at the Geraldine Collie Club.

The club's centenary is being held at Waihi Gorge Station in South Canterbury with some competitors likely to go on to compete in national trials.

Seventy national and international veteran shearers converged on the town of Hinds in Mid Canterbury to shear 3000 sheep over the weekend.

The event was held to raise money for the Ashburton Cancer Support Group, as well as the national breast and prostate cancer organisations.
