Pioneer Energy's new multimillion-dollar hydro-power scheme near Alexandra has been touted as 'an immense achievement' for the Central Otago region.

The energy company unveiled the long-awaited scheme - from intake weir and pipeline, to transformer and powerhouse - to onlookers recently.
