Anglers say climate change may be responsible for declining salmon numbers in Otago.

About 20,000 salmon smolt have been released into a Dunedin stream this winter, in the hope they will return as adults in a few years time.

But numbers of returning salmon have been low in recent years, with anglers and scientists curious as to the cause.
