A Wanaka-based company is launching a modular building system which will allow houses to be constructed in under a week.

The company Nautilus Modular says it can produce buildings using interchangeable modules and promises an assembly which is faster and more efficient than other construction methods.

A controversial freedom camping site next to Luggate's Red Bridge is about to get a makeover.

A group of residents hope to improve the area for the whole community by clearing the area of wilding pines.

In the process they will create a new picnic area, frisbee golf course and improve access to a historic punt site on the banks of the Clutha River.

Drivers transporting a collection of vintage Caterpillar earthmoving machinery on 12 trucks described their road trip from a South Canterbury farm to Wanaka yesterday morning as a 'dream run'.

The convoy set off from Waiau near Hamner Springs on Saturday, and had only one puncture along the way.
