A National Party promise to provide half the money for a birthing unit in Wanaka, if it is elected next year, would only partly solve maternity service problems.

That was the verdict of some who listened to party leader Simon Bridges outline National's proposal, at a meeting in Wanaka yesterday.

An antique squadron of ten Australian aircraft has landed at the Wanaka Transport and Toy Museum.

Coming from a recently closed Sydney museum, the collection includes military and light aircraft as well as a large transport helicopter.

A war of words has erupted over the proposed Wanaka airport expansion.

This follows an accountant's analysis saying to be commercially viable, the airport would need a jet flight every ten minutes.

Queenstown Lakes District Mayor Jim Boult says the report is fundamentally wrong.

But the report's author says the airport and council council are either hiding something or do not have all the information.

A recently released report into Wanaka's airport expansion has found it will cost around 400 million dollars.

That's according to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, as the government lifts restrictions on who can buy the unsold Kiwibuild houses in Wanaka's Northlake subdivision.

The youth of Upper Clutha had plenty to showcase when the district's second annual youth exhibition was held recently.

The Mount Aspiring College pupils showed off young enterprise schemes as well as creative skills and photography and video-making.
