One anticyclone is moving away from New Zealand today but another is building south of Australia. Between them a cold front will sneak onto the South Island tonight and bring a brief period of colder southwesterlies and showers tomorrow. The next anticyclone will move quickly across the Tasman Sea on Sunday and Monday bringing a fine period to the south.
