The average income of New Zealanders appears to be increasing.

Each year Statistics New Zealand surveys 30,000 people in the June quarter.

This year the median weekly income from wages and salaries increased 2.3% to $863.

The average weekly income increased 3% to $991.

Median hourly earnings increased 1.7% to almost $22.

And average hourly earnings increased 3% to $26.78.
