The old adage says "coughs and sneezes spread diseases" - and that's all the more reason to stay away from Dunedin's Emergency Department this autumn.

Volunteers say the department is steadily filling with cases of people who've come down with the lurgy, but the hospital advises that in all cases, patients should first seek a GP - and a day off work.
