Finance Minister Michael Cullen is facing more criticism for his action in trying to contol the New Zealand dollar.

Former National Party leader Don Brash says Cullen needs to "get off Reserve Bank Governor Alan Bollard's back".

Brash himself was a former Governor of the Reserve Bank, before becoming an MP.

He says it's time Cullen shouldered some of the blame for the high level of inflation pointing to the rapid increase in Government spending as a major cause.

Michael Cullen has been trying to talk down the dollar with speculation about using the Reserve Bank Act to limit further interest rate hikes.
