The tourism boom is continuing with a new March record for the number of international visitors.

Just under 350,000 foreigners entered the country last month.

That's an 18% increase on last year.

Visitor arrivals for the 12 months to March also hit a record, at 3.26m.

The latest data shows more Australian, Chinese and American holidaymakers are touring New Zealand.

The annual number of international departures by New Zealanders has also hit a new high, at 2.43m.
