Thousands of students across New Zealand have kept silent today to acknowledge victims of homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic bullying.

In Dunedin, about 30 Logan Park High School students from Years eight to 13 took part in Day of Silence... a nationwide campaign to give a voice to young people who identify as lesbian, trans, intersex and bisexual.

Students taped their mouths shut, held cards, and tattooed messages on themselves to highlight this year's theme - unlearning homophobia, transphobia and biphobia.

The campaign was introduced three years ago by national charity Inside-out.
