A Brockville man was arrested and charged for assault on a child after an incident in the family home yesterday.

Dunedin Police say a father of two was preparing breakfast for his sons when there was a disagreement.

Senior Sgt. Steve Aitken believes the father smacked his son on the backside with such force it left a mark.

The children's mother phoned Police in relation to the incident, for which the father has been granted bail to another Dunedin address.

Police say Children Young Persons and their Families are now involved.
