A competition to find out the manliest man is got underway over the weekend, with Dunedin blokes putting in a good solid show.

Trying to get a fire roaring is a hard task at the best of times, but trying to do it in a cool southerly breeze proved trying.

The Mornington Tavern hosted the Speights Southern man competition over the long weekend, and put our men to work.

A good gathering of spectators turned out to see who would walk away with the honour.
