Two males are dead following a shooting in Mornington yesterday afternoon.

A 47 year old gun collector and a 15 year old local high school student died after sustaining gunshot wounds.

Emergency services were called to an Argyle Street address at about 2pm, where they found the younger male dead.

The older man was taken to Dunedin Hospital but died this morning.

A .22 Calibre target rifle has been located at the scene.

And in news to hand, Police have just released the names of the two deceased. They are 47 year old Barry Wayne Whitfield and his 15 year old son Aidan Whitfield.
