Organisers of this year's Moro Marathon are expecting a record number of participants.

The annual Marathon's in its 28th year, and continues to grow in popularity.

Head Organiser Phil Coakes says over 1,300 people have already signed up for Sunday's race, with another two to three hundred predicted to enter in the next two days.

Runners can enter the full marathon, the half marathon or the 21 kilometre recreational walk.

The Metservice say the forecast for Sunday is overcast conditions with a high of 12 degrees.
