National's controversial 90 day bill has been ammended after strong criticism.

Wayne Mapp's private member's bill originally enabled an employer to sack a worker within 90 days of them being employed, with no questions asked.

But national's ammended the bill in the wake of concerns from unions it would damage employees' rights.

Mapp says the amendments now give a worker some redress and they should get a fairer hearing.
