Former Mayoral Candidate Oliver Lequeux isn't accepting defeat, despite his failure in the recent local body elections, he's aiming higher, for a spot in parliament.

Lequeux has put in his nomination for the Dunedin South Electorate seat, which already looks to be strongly contested.

He'll be challenging current South Dunedin MP David Benson-Pope, whose political future's become shaky since the Madeleine Setchell employment debacle.

Other nominees for the seat are likely to include EPMU president Don Pryde, and media stategist Claire Curran.
