Fire crews have cleaned up a chemical spill in South Dunedin this morning which resulted in one person being taken to hospital.

The spill happened at PBT Transport Depot in Strathallan Street, with emergency services evacuating and ventilating the building.

The chemical is a concentrated and highly corrosive acid which an employee inhaled.
