A large rural showcase in Palmerston is attracting exhibitors from throughout New Zealand.

The first ever East Otago Field Days is taking place in Palmerston today and tomorrow.

More than 100 exhibitors are involved, from as far away as Auckland.

Organisers say the wet spring weather isn't dampening festivities.

The event's an offshoot of the annual Palmerston and Waihemo A&P Association show, which is growing in size.

As well as commercial exhibitors there's cooking demonstrations, fashion shows and award presentations on offer.
