The first phase of work to repair the most significant slip caused by last June's flooding in Dunedin is complete.

The slip is near the intersection of Highcliff Road and Seal Point Road on Otago Peninsula.

The remedial project's costing more than half a million dollars and is expected to be fully completed by mid-December.

A single lane has been open during work so far, although the road will be totally closed for ten days in November.

Complicated ground conditions have slowed repairs but the council says the project's still on track.
