A DCC planner has recommended a request by Dunedin business Veggie Boys to open an outlet in Mosgiel be denied.

But Veggie Boys will be hoping 142 submissions in support of its bid tip the balance at a resource consent hearing next week.

The company has applied for consent to open a retail outlet at Wal's Plant Land in Mosgiel.

But the site is zoned rural, and the activity is non-complying under the council's district plan.

A council planner has recommended the application be turned down.

A hearing led by former councillor and MP David Benson-Pope will consider both sides next Wednesday.
