Fisher and Paykel have managed to keep jobs at their Mosgiel Manufacturing plant despite speculation there were about to be redundancies.

This follows a proposal to cut an afternoon shift from its Dishdrawer production and move about twenty jobs to dayshift.

The Mosgiel Plant employs six to seven hundred staff and has been relatively unaffected by cost saving measures over the past two years.

More than five hundred jobs have gone overall.

At Mosgiel, the bulk of the staff are believed to have accepted offers to go to dayshift positions, and the remainder will relocate to other production jobs on the afternoon shift.
