The Southern District Health Board is seeking community consultation around maternity services.

A small project team has been charged with discussing objectives and gathering feedback on a number of topics.

Over the coming weeks women, midwives, and other services providers will have the chance to have their say about how best to provide maternity services across the Southern District.

The DHB says feedback received may be used to implement changes that will ensure optimal service provision for women and their families.

The goal is to provide a service that is both sustainable and encourages the utilisation of primary maternity services closer to home.
