The family of Invercargill shooting victim Verity McLean, nee Barber, and her husband Ben, who is accused of murdering her, have issued a statement this afternoon.

Spokeswoman Jane Allan said the family of Ben and Verity was ``very shocked'' and ``trying to cope'' as best they could.
