The next generation of fast Broadband Internet is on the way.

Telecom's announced rollout plans for ADSL 2, which offers Internet speeds over 10 times quicker than are currently available.

ADSL 2 increases download speeds to 24 mega bits per second, compared to the 2 megabit limit now.

Trials are planned to begin in June, with Telecom hoping to have major city's connected by Christmas.

They say ADSL 2 gives users much faster Internet, as well as home based video calling from phones, and streamed television on computers.
