At the Tourism Industry Association annual conference, chief operators urged the government to subsidise broadband access.
They're claiming tourism is being held back by a lack of broadband Internet access.
They say tourists are increasingly turning to the Internet to book activities, and operators without high speed Internet are missing out.
A recent report from lobby group Internet New Zealand rated this country as near bottom of OECD countries for broadband services.
