A woman has been rushed to Dunedin Hospital, after being hit by a bus late this afternoon.

The incident happened outside Dunedin Railway station, on the corner of Stuart and High streets just before 4 o'clock.

The woman was lifted onto a stretcher by emergency staff, before being taken to hospital.

The driver of the Otago Road Services Passenger Bus appeared shaken by the incident.

Eyewitnesses say the woman was heading towards the city, and had the right of way.

Other witnesses also expressed their anger at the slow response time from Police saying it took over 20 minutes for them to arrive on the scene.
