Dunedin Police are continuing to urge caution in winter driving conditions.

Southern District Road Policing Manager, Inspector Andrew Burns, says police will be maintaining a high level of visibility over coming weeks, as winter driving conditions really start to bite.

Inspector Burns says most people drive to the conditions, keeping their speed down, but it's very disappointing to see people putting themselves and other road users at risk because of unsafe driving.

He says accidents have serious flow-on effects at hospitals and medical centres right across Otago.
