The DCC is getting in on the act for World Car Free Day coming up on the 22nd of September.

Commuters from Waitati will be able to travel by train on the day, with a return service from Waitati to Dunedin being chartered from Taieri Gorge Railway.

Train tickets are $5 each way, and the service is running only on World Car Free Day.

The DCC say they're keen to encourage modes of transport other than private motor car, due to the environmental, health and aesthetic benefits that come with less cars on the road.
